The West Side Story

I booked tickets last night to see The West Side Story at PCS in November and I'm quite looking forward to it. I haven't been to a play at PCS for awhile...I'm so glad they give discounts for those who are 30 and under! It will be nice to see the new theater at the armory, too.

I emailed my old acting teacher today. Christine Menzies. She taught at PSU while I was there and she really "had my number". I miss working with her. She used to be the principle voice and text coach at PCS and she also worked at OSF. So, after seeing the play at OSF over the weekend then booking tickets for PCS last night, she was really on mind. I ended up having a dream last night that I was desperately trying to find her. So, I Googled her name this morning and it turns out that she's teaching acting at LSU now. I emailed her, though I haven't heard back as of yet. I'd love to hear from her as I really do miss her.

I like to reminisce about how she had me work extensively on a Queen Margaret monologue from King Henry VI part III for a Shakespeare class. I worked on that monologue so much that I used it as my audition piece for everything...even the PATA auditions. After I finished with my PATA audition a couple years ago, I saw Christine leave the theater after me...turns out she had performed the same monologue in the group directly after me... I bet she was pretty amazing. I felt jealous, worried and honored at the same time that she would do the same monologue that she suggested to me.

I'm not sure why I'm sharing all this about my old teacher. Perhaps just because she's so strongly on my mind after dreaming about her and trying to contact her. I also try not to ignore "signs", so I'm interested to see what may come out of connecting with her again.

Love,
Aislinn
